For Pine, Spruce or Larch floors
Softwood floors are ubiquitous in city and town properties. Very often they make excellent projects, but on occasion they are best left alone since their install was purely intended to be a sub-floor for carpet.
The best floors would be antique Georgian Pine, Pitch Pine, then Baltic Pine from the Victorian or Edwardian period. You are looking for width and length with straight grain down the centre of the boards. We'd obviously hope that you refinish, but if you choose another route then do consider selling your wood into the reclaimed market. You'll get a return and someone else gets to enjoy the increasingly rare resource.
