Finish to a classic tone

Kits for a classic tone involve impregnating oils, oil resins, oil hybrid or UV-filtering lacquer that are labelled natural in the sense they do not include pigmentation. They will always result in a richer, honey tone from your timber so dont confuse this category with 'invisible/neutral' finishing. That is a seperate category where the intention if to preserve the as-sanded look from your timber.

IMPREGNATING OIL provides protection 1mm into the wood so in the event of slight scratches the wood is still protected from moisture and marking. Due to the smooth nature of the wood finish it is not only aesthetically pleasing to the touch but it is also hygienic. The smoothness of the finish negates the risk that it may collect dirt and bacteria.

An OIL RESIN kit will combine an initial impregnating oil with twice coating of oil resin. The result is a higher built lacquered appearance with a higher sheen.

OIL HYBRID kits involve just the one product applied in 3 coats. The oil resins are waterborne so whilst they do impregnate deeply and build a finish they also cure quickly to speed your project progress. Being waterborne the colour impact is milder than an oil based oil.

UV-FILTERING POLYURETHANE LACQUER is not only highly durable but has a low colour impact on the wood. The downside of the polyurethane layer is that there is no wood protection within the wood so once the PU is cut or worn away then the patch tends to discolour. A typical wear pattern on lacquer will be a good looking floor overall with a worn out patch say in a hallway or the kitchen triangle.
