Douglas Fir is special in that it should be treated as a hardwood, hence the universal variants Woca Wood Lye or Faxe Universal Lye should be used for preparation.

Lye and soaping is a very traditional Danish approach to wood floor care. It relies on the lye naturally lightening with wood lignins and then the white pigmented soap hardening into the surface. This happens gradually through the repetition of weekly or fortnightly damp mopping with a solution of White Soap.
