Quartier Magnum lacquer is a UV-resistant coatings. This lacquer has integrated UV inhibitor that will help absorb and dissipate harmful UV rays, reducing their impact on the flooring. The coating is designed to be clear and non-yellowing, ensuring it does not alter the appearance of the flooring.
In interior projects UV light can have several detrimental effects on a wooden surface:
- Fading and Discoloration: Prolonged exposure to UV rays can cause the colours in your flooring to fade or yellow, particularly in areas that receive direct sunlight.
- Brittleness and Cracking: UV light can make wood brittle over time, leading to cracking and other forms of damage.
Before we discuss our own lacquer that includes UV-light damages inhibitors it is sensible to take the sound step to use window treatments
such as blinds, curtains, drapes, or UV-blocking window films that will significantly reduce the amount of UV light entering your home and reaching your floors. These not only protect your flooring but also other furnishings from UV damage.
This excellent finish will not only act to protecting against UV as well as adding 1st rate durability to the flooring.
We also suggest regularly moving furniture and rugs which can help expose all areas of your flooring to equal amounts of light, reducing noticeable sun patches. This also helps your flooring age more uniformly.
Maintenance Routines to Enhance Longevity
No UV inhibitor lasts forever since in the very action of dissipating light it is broken down. Therefore, in the long-term a schedule to recoat the lacquer is advised. This would largely be determined by the directness of sunlight and other mitigating factors such as window coatings.
